The Phillies slugging first baseman wore this batting helmet in 2005, his rookie season, when he gave a pretty good hint of the kind of things to come by socking 22 homers and knocking in 63 runs in barely more than 1/2 a season at 88 games. It made it kind of scary to think what he might do with a full season, something the Philly fans found out in 2006: 58 homers, 149 RBI's and .313 batting average. He has also been the fastest to reach the 100 and 200 plateaus, and after only nine seasons at the MLB level has already amassed 300 home runs and 920 RBIs.
This Size 7 1/4 batting helmet shows game use amid an essentially as-issued and problem free presentation, with three stickers inside the crown from American Baseball Cap with the size, Authentic Diamond Collection and the warning decal, which has buckled a bit in a couple of spots. The plastic MLB logo sticker appears at the back of the helment directly below a No. 6 sticker for Howard's uniform number. The Red Cross sticker that was utilized by a number of MLB teams during the period shows up on the right side above the ear flap. Howard has provided his silver Sharpie autograph across the bill.
