During the 2005-06 NBA season, Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant led the league in scoring with an incredible 35.4 points per game average. Playing in 80 regular season games, Bryant poured in a total of 2,832 points as the Lakers finished third in the Pacific Division standings. It was during this spectacular campaign (1/22/06 to be exact) that the Black Mamba put up 81 points against the Raptors, the 2nd highest single-game scoring output ever behind Wilt The Stilt's 100. This lot features a dual-signed and game-worn pair of Kobe's Nike Huarache Zoom Air Model ‘2K5’ shoes from that remarkable season.
The size 14 purple-and-white shoes reflect moderate use and feature a wrap-around Velcro strap in front, just above the top of the tongue. Boasting a purple-and-white paisley design feature throughout the shoes, both kicks are sporting a single large purple Nike swoosh outlined in Lakers yellow and have been signed by Bryant just above the swooshes. Kobe used a black fiber-tip marker and added his uniform number “8” with his signature. Bryant’s personal “Black Mamba” logo can be found on the heels of both shoes in purple. The original white laves and purple insoles remain intact. The sneakers are properly tagged on the interior with "PROMO Y3" player-issue
cording and the manufacturing date of "10-12-05."
An incredible individual season’s worth of effort for the future Basketball Hall of Famer is reflected within this coveted pair. Game photos show Kobe
wearing this style in various colorways throughout the 2005-06 regular season. According to a handwritten letter of provenance, the shoes were sourced from the son of former NBA player Clifford Robinson. Getty 56281916 provides a great style/photo match from the Lakers' 11/27/05 home game to the New Jersey Nets, for whom Robinson played that season. Bryant scored 46 points in a losing effort. The shoes are also style/photo-matched to a 11/20/05 home loss to the Bulls a week earlier in which Kobe went for 43 points.
Includes two full LOA's from PSA/DNA, one for each shoe. LOA from JSA as well.
