This 2004-05 Panini Megacracks La Liga issue marks the official rookie card of the world's greatest living footballer: Lionel Messi. The card features a young Leo shortly after his call-up to FC Barcelona's senior squad, adorned in the iconic Blaugrana colors. Capturing the essence of the rising superstar, the card showcases Messi's unmistakable skill and potential, radiating an air of promise that would soon be fulfilled on the pitch for the world the enjoy.
The example is graded an EX-MT 6 by Beckett Grading Services, but possesses outstanding eye appeal and presents better than its given grade. BGS sub-grades include Gem Mint 9.5 centering and NM-MT+ 8.5 edges. The corners do show wear deserving of a 6.5 assessment (esp. the back lower left), but we are a bit baffled by the 5 sub-grade given to the surface. All in all, this card is one of the most important soccer issues, right up there with Pele's 1958 Alifabolaget #635 and Maradona's 1977 Futbol Discs Argentina Juniors #11. A must-have for any serious soccer card collector.
