The 2003 Yankees won their sixth of nine consecutive American League Eastern Division titles and beat their archrivals, the Boston Red Sox, in a hard-fought playoff that went the full seven games. The Yankees then faced the upstart Florida Marlins for the World Championship. In a surprising turn of events, the Marlins beat the Yanks in six games. This ALCS Championship ring was issued to one of the most revered Yankees coaches, Don Zimmer. The 14K gold ring has the famed Yankees bat-and-hat logo with red, white, and blue gemstones and the cursive “Yankees” script on the top of a bed of approximately 40 diamonds, surrounding raised lettering proclaiming, “Yankees American League Champions.” The left shank has “ZIMMER” engraved above the Yankees iconic “NY” logo superimposed over a relief of Yankee Stadium with the “PRIDE” engraved below. The right shank has “2003” engraved over the Yankees bat-and-hat logo and banner reading, “1903-2003” with, “TRADITION” below. Don Zimmer’s name and Balfour©14K are engraved inside the band.
