In 2002, Texas Rangers shortstop Alex Rodriguez put up some monster numbers in which led the American League in home runs (57) as well as runs batted in (142). His OPS was also off the charts: 1.015. This lot features A-Rod’s game worn and autographed Texas Rangers home white uniform plus one of his autographed blue Under Armour undershirts. He actually signed the undershirt twice.
The offered white jersey reads “RANGERS” arched across the front in blue tackle twill outlined in red with Rodriguez’s uniform number “3” appearing on the left chest in similar tackle twill fashion. Proper “Rawlings MLB Authentic Collection” tagging exist on the inside left front tail. Four separate white flag tags appear at the bottom of the Rawlings tag reading: “2 INCH EXTRA LENGTH,” “1 INCH EXTRAS LENGTH,” “50” and “SET 3 2002.” The polyester jersey, which reflects moderate use, includes the official Texas Rangers embroidered logo patch on the left sleeve, while the official MLB red, white and blue embroidered logo appears on the outside rear collar. The back of the jersey includes “RODRIGUEZ” in blue tackle twill outlined in red on a separate, sewn-on white nameplate across the shoulders. His uniform number “3” is centered on the back in like tackle twill fashion and stretches eight inches tall. Rodriguez signed the back of the jersey in blue marker, to the left of his number, and added the inscription “2002 game used.” Slight fraying of the numbers and letters is present, while noticeable puckering can be detected with the large number “3.”
The accompanying zip-up, white pair of pants reflect light usage and include the “Rawlings” manufacturer’s tag on the inside rear waistband with a separate identifier sewn into the waistband to the right of the tag that reads: “3 RODRIGUEZ 36-45 35 02.” A blue elastic belt in also included that sports a silver belt buckle. Lastly, his blue, short-sleeved Under Armour undershirt is also part of the lot. Made of 81% cationic polyester and 19% elastane, the shirt has been signed twice by Rodriguez in silver marker, once on the back of the neck, just below his embroidered in white nickname “A-ROD” and again on the front of the shirt where he again added the inscription “2002 Game Used.” Solid wear is evident.
