In 2001, in just his second season as the starting strong safety for the USC Trojans, Troy Polamalu was named to the Football Writers All-American first team, College and Pro Football Newsweekly All-American first team, AP All-American second team, The Sporting News All-American third team, Football News All-American third team and All-Pac-10 first team. As team captain that season, the junior standout was USC's first All-American safety since Mark Carrier in 1989. This is Polamalu’s game-worn USC Trojans home jersey from that remarkable season. The No. 43 nylon/mesh burgundy Nike jersey (size 46) shows some game usage with small tears and holes on the front and back. The jersey includes the gold Nike swoosh on the left shoulder area and the Nike manufacturer's tag inside the neck area. The Trojans finished the season 6-6 and Polamalu is currently an All-Pro safety with the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers.

1/03/02 LOA from the University of Southern California signed by Athletic Director Mike Garrett.

Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
