Last season Ben Roethlisberger turned in another stellar campaign, throwing for 3,819 yards and 29 touchdowns (in just 14 games) and leading the Pittsburgh Steelers to an 11-5 record atop the AFC North division. He took his team to the AFC Title game where they fell to the eventual Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots. In association with his agency, Rep 1 Sports, Big Ben is offering his game-worn and dual-signed Nike cleats from Pittsburgh’s hard-fought 18-16 road victory over Kansas City in the AFC Divisional playoff round held at Arrowhead Stadium on January 15, 2017. Ben’s stats may not have been great (224 yds. & 1 INT), but it was yet another gritty performance by the clutch quarterback to add to his Hall of Fame resume.
The size 14 Nike ‘Field General 3’ cleats are caked with grass and dirt from the Arrowhead Stadium field. The rugged winter conditions are evident in the wet grass staining around the toes and outer foot sections. Designed in Steelers colors with a yellow gold crisscross pattern on the exterior, the cleats can be easily photo-matched to game photos (i.e. Getty 631784038). The Nike interior tagging reads “SEASON FA16” for the season of use and “PROMO SAMPLE” to indicate player-issued status. Underneath each tongue is “PO KC” penned in black, most likely by the equipment manager, to indicate the playoff game against Kansas City. Each cleat has been autographed on the lower ankle by Big Ben in 8-9/10 black marker with his uniform No. “7” inscribed.
Also included in this lot is Ben’s game-used Nike glove he wears on his non-throwing hand for better grip. The black and gray leather glove shows heavy use. It is marked “P.O. K.C.” and is signed and inscribed by Ben just like the cleats. Getty 631784038 shows a nice photo-match of both the cleats and glove.
