ADDENDUM: BASED ON PHOTO EVIDENCE, THIS JERSEY IS FROM 1998, NOT 2000.
Chad Morton was a standout running back for the USC Trojans in the late 1990s. A notable moment in Morton's college career came in 1999 as a senior, when he guaranteed a USC win prior to the team’s rivalry game against UCLA. Morton promptly ran for 143 yards in what turned out to be a 17-7 USC victory, its first in nine meetings with the Bruins. This lot includes Morton’s game-used USC Trojans home jersey from his junior year in 1998 when he rushed for 985 yards and 6 TD's. The No. 7 nylon/mesh Nike jersey (size 44) shows substantial game usage with tears, scrapes and missing paint on the numbers - no doubt the result of many on-field collisions. The bottom of the burgundy jersey has been cut all the way around by design; that was the way many college football players wore them in that era.
Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum as well as a Letter of Authenticity from the USC Athletic Department. It should be noted that the USC LOA erroneously calls it a 2000 jersey when Morton's last year at USC was 1999.
