Terrific pair of Scottie Pippen game worn shoes from the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta. Pippen was a member of "Dream Team I" at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, and one of five original members to suit up for USA Basketball four years later as part of their marketed "Dream Team III" squad. (Technically, "Dream Team II" was 1994 FIBA team.) The Americans easily won a 2nd straight gold medal by beating their international opponents by an average of 31.8 points per game during the two-week tournament, culminating with a 95-69 thrashing of Yugoslavia in the final. Pippen was one of four to average in double figures and played his usual stingy defense.

The white and blue Nike Airs come in size 15.5 and have the word "AIR" spelled out in a large panel pattern on each side. Pippen's Olympic jersey No. "8" is stamped on the upper heel. The interior tagging is properly labeled "SAMPLE LN3" denoting they were issued for player use only. Like other big name players on the Olympic team, Pippen had his shoes specifically designed for playing in Atlanta that summer. He wore a very similar design in the '96 NBA playoffs (see Lot 740), only they were in black and were not stamped with his Olympic number. Pippen has signed each shoe in 9/10 thick black marker. Solid wear inside and out. Original laces are intact. Some of the blue paint on the exterior has started to rub off. Other than that, they remain in excellent shape and present essentially as-issued. The consignor is a Chicago area detailer who worked on several Bulls players' cars in the 1990's, including Scottie Pippen. He acquired these shoes as a gift for his services.

Letter of Provenance from consignor. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
