The 1996 U.S. Men’s Olympic Basketball Team was referred to as “Dream Team II.” The team, which competed against the world in Atlanta, featured five players from the original ’92 Dream Team (Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen, David Robinson and John Stockton) plus other future NBA Hall of Famers Including Hakeem Olajuwon and Shaquille O’Neal. The team dominated the competition in Atlanta and brought home the gold medal with an average margin of victory of 31.8 points.
This lot features a branded, limited edition (209 of 250) Spalding Top-Flite 100 USA “DREAM TEAM” basketball that’s been signed by 16 team members, all 12 players plus the four coaches. This multi-signed basketball is one of the nicest examples you will ever see from this particular gold-medal-winning squad. Though the basketball itself is numbered to 250 that is not the case with this collection of signatures, which is certainly much rarer – on a basketball or any other surface. Signatures on the basketball, all signed in black marker, include each of the aforementioned players plus Gary Payton, Mitch Richmond, Reggie Miller, Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway, plus the four coaches: Lenny Wilkens, Bobby Cremins, Clem Haskins and Jerry Sloan.
