Featured here is Kirk McLean's Vancouver Canucks game-worn uniform ensemble from the 1993-94 season, including the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals vs. the New York Rangers. It's got everything but the goalie mask (which SCP Auctions sold in the Summer 2014 Auction for $13,028). The Canadian goaltender had an outstanding post-season with 2.29 GAA and a 15-9 record, just one win away from the cup as the Rangers prevailed 4 games to 3 in the Finals. McLean spent 10 1/2 seasons in Vancouver and established himself as one of the leagues premier goaltenders in the early 1990's.
Let's start with the McLean home white '94 Cup jersey with the large 90's era Canucks logo patch on the front and 'MCLEAN' in black on the back. His no. '1' appears in black tackle twill with yellow and red piping on the back and each sleeve. The 1994 Stanley Cup Championship patch sits over the right chest. The 'Canuck Place' patch is in its customary place on the right shoulder and the '2 Pts. F.G.' patch in memory of late team owner Frank Griffiths has been relocated from the right breast to the left shoulder to make way for the finals patch. Maska Ultrafil and size 56 flag tags remain in the neck. It shows great wear, with paint transfers and contact marks throughout but mostly on the sleeves, shoulder and back areas.
McLean's red, black & yellow Vaughn goalie gloves, with 'MCLEAN 1' sewn in black on each one, show significant game use. The 'B1050' right blocker glove is sweat-stained on the inside and covered with black puck marks on the outside. His left-handed mitt is also marked up in the webbing. The black CCM 'Supra' pants have the Canucks logo on the left front side and show several contact marks plus a tear on the back right. White Cooper straps for securing pads are attached. The inside of the pants smell like the Canucks locker room! Next up are his black and red pair of Vaughn 'Legacy' goalie pads with all straps and laces intact. 'McLEAN 1' is sewn on the red section of each. They show heavy game use from sliding saves. In addition, we have his black Vaughn complete shoulder/chest/elbow pad set with all laces and straps fully functional. In addition, McLean's pair of white CCM hockey socks and black Reebok 'The Pump' skates with white SLM blade holders attached.
Finally, we come to Kirk McLean's Hespeler 'R.T.X.G.' game-used goalie stick with its original white tape job around the knob and blade. 'McLEAN' is stamped to the wooden shaft and Kirk has autographed the blade in 9/10 black pen. It shows great game use with black puck and contact marks on the white blade tape. Incredible ensemble for Canucks or any hockey collector to enjoy.
