In 1992, the U.S. Men’s basketball team captured the gold medal in
dominating fashion at the Barcelona Summer Olympic Games. Coached by the
late Chuck Daly and dubbed the "Dream Team," they represented the first
American Olympic squad to feature active professional NBA players and
proved to be unstoppable. They crushed each opponent they played by an
average of almost 44 points per game on their way to capturing the gold
medal. They defeated Croatia in the championship game by the score of
117-85, close by their standards, but blew out earlier opponents by the
following margins: Angola (68 points); Croatia (the first time, 33);
Germany (43); Brazil (44); Spain (41); Puerto Rico (38); and Lithuania
(51).
Presented here is a wonderful 18" by 36" official 1992
USA Basketball poster signed by all 12 “Dream Team” players in uniformly striking 9/10 blue
marker. From left to right is Drexler, Barkley, Robinson, Stockton, Malone, Jordan,
Mullin, Ewing, Bird, Johnson, Pippen and Laettner. All signatures are
non-personalized and remarkably bold and vibrant. The poster comes raw and unframed in NM-MT condition with a bit of corner and edge wear that can easily be obscured by a proper matte and frame job.
The provenance of this poster certainly bears mention as it was gifted by Hall of Famer Lenny Wilkens to a contractor (our consignor) who worked on his house outside of Seattle, WA. Wilkens, of course, served as one of Coach Daly's Dream Team assistants (along with Coach K and P.J. Carlesimo). According to the consignor, Lenny told him that the team did a private signing in which a limited number of these posters were signed by all the players. The only other one we have listed at auction previously sold for over $8,000 in January 2017.
Includes letter of provenance from consignor and full LOA from PSA/DNA.
