Addendum: This jersey has just been graded A10 by MEARS.
For most players, winning a Championship represents the pinnacle of their
career. Not Michael Jordan. After winning the 1990-91 Championship, Jordan and
the Chicago Bulls’ thirst for the ultimate victory was unquenchable. The next
season he not only led the team to a then-franchise record 67 wins and a second
Championship, he also took home both the league and Finals MVP awards. Presented
here is a 1991-92 Bulls home jersey donned by "His Airness" during
that memorable 1991-92 campaign, autographed twice by MJ for good measure.
The white mesh jersey features “BULLS” and Jordan’s “23” on the front in
black and red appliqué. Red, black and white ribbing trims the arm and neck
openings. A size 46 Champion label is sewn in the left front tail alongside a
Champion/NBA label with “1991” and “BODY LENGTH +3” marking. The back has
“JORDAN” in red appliqué arching above his number “23” in red and black
appliqué. The shirt shows moderate game use with some staining on the shoulder
where Jordan must have tugged at the straps with sweat-drenched hands. As
mentioned, Jordan has signed this jersey twice, on the lower front in thick
black 8/10 marker and again on the lower back in crisper 9/10 black marker.
Includes full LOA from PSA/DNA that covers both signatures. LOA from MEARS (A10).
Provenance: This same exact jersey was initially sold at auction in 2001 for $21,847. According to the auction
house’s description, it was “signed twice by Jordan, who had originally signed
the jersey on the front prior to presenting it to our consignor, who, in turn,
had Michael autograph the jersey on the back for display purposes. This gem was
personally given to our consignor by Michael immediately following the Bulls
January 14, 1992 game against the Philadelphia 76er's in Chicago at the old
Stadium. Our consignor (whose vast collection yielded a number of high quality
memorabilia lots in our November, 2000 auction) is a member of the national sports
establishment who has close personal relationships with a number of today's
prominent athletes. LOA from consignor. LOAs from Dan Knoll, Dave Bushing and
Steve Grad." It should be noted that the original paperwork is missing and we were unable to get a conclusive photo-match to this attributed game.
