Basketball Hall of Famer Larry Bird, nicknamed “Larry Legend” by the Celtics’ faithful for years, played 13 seasons in Boston and led the C’s to three NBA Championships (1981, ’84 and ’86). An incredible shooter and passer, Bird almost seemed to will his team to victory. The three-time league MVP (1984, ’85 and ’86) averaged 24.3 points and 10 rebounds per game and ultimately retired from play following the 1991-92 season. Though he did win an Olympic gold medal with the ’92 Dream Team that summer, his days of shooting treys in the NBA came to an end.

This lot features Bird’s 1991-92 Boston Celtics game worn road jersey from his final season. Across the front of the jersey is the team name "CELTICS" in arched fashion via white tackle twill lettering and on the back is his last name "BIRD” in similar fashion. On the left front tail is the proper “Champion” manufacturer’s tag [size] “46” complete with washing instructions. A separate Champion tag resides to its left indicating “YEAR 1991” and “BODY LENGTH +2.” A flag tag reading “100% NYLON” resides on the left inseam. His iconic number "33" appears on both the front and back in white tackle twill sewn directly onto the jersey. Light use is evident throughout. As this was Bird’s final season in Beantown, with his nagging back injury never fully healed, he played in just 45 games but still averaged an impressive 20.2 points per outing.
