Right-hander Gene Nelson was a 13-year veteran of the major leagues who won an American League title as a member of the Oakland A’s in 1990. This lot includes his 10K Gold A.L. Championship ring from that season. The size 11 3/4 beauty is adorned with three real diamonds against a green jadeite background. Around the face of the ring it says "Oakland, American League Champions.” One side of the ring says "1990 Athletics, 2.900.217.” The other side of the ring says "Nelson, Oakland Athletics, A's - 4, B – 0,” which refers to the ALCS, where Oakland beat the Boston Red Sox four games to zero. The lot includes the original Jostens presentation box in which the ring was awarded. Weight is 42 grams.
