Beautiful 12-inch high by 7 inches in diameter miniature World Series trophy produced by Balfour and commemorating the 1990 World Series triumph by Cincinnati. The defending champions and heavily-favored Oakland Athletics fell in four games to the Cincinnati Reds, which had led in the National League pennant race from the opening of the season. It was the fifth four-game sweep by the National League and second by the Reds (1976). It is remembered for Billy Hatcher's seven consecutive hits. The sweep extended the Reds' World Series winning streak to nine games, dating back to 1975. Gold-plated pennants representing all 26 teams by name in the league surround a gold crown above a silver baseball. Oakland and Cincinnati World Series press pins stand in front. Heavy black base has gold band in front with "World Series Champions, Cincinnati Reds, 1990" in black letters. Trophy appears to be in essentially as-issued and problem-free condition.
