The caption on the reverse of this historic photo says it all, “Atlanta small guy Spud Webb slams his little heart out in the Slam dunk contest.” The photo captures the 5’ 6” Webb in mid-slam dunk during the 1989 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Webb had made history in 1986 when he won the event, in turn earning him countless product endorsements and millions of fans. In the 1989 contest, Webb placed third in what would be his final appearance in the annual event.
The original color print shows toning from age and light edge wear. There is some paper loss to the white border on the left bottom corner. The reverse of the photo has photographer Carlos Rosales’ stamp plus several date stamps. The original caption slug sticker is still affixed, describing the action captured on the front. The photo has been encapsulated and graded a Type I by PSA/DNA.
