Beautiful individual championship trophy commemorating the Los Angeles Dodgers 1988 World Series victory over the Oakland Athletics.

The trophy, manufactured by Balfour, measures almost 12" tall and features brass pennants with team names around the perimeter of a large brass circle with a crown finial. A Dodgers and Athletics enameled World Series press pin facades adorn the center area with "LOS ANGELES DODGERS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY PRESENTED BY THE COMMISSIONER OF BASEBALL OCTOBER 20, 1988 STEVEN L. SKINNER" in black lettering on the front of a brass band around the base.

Lead by a lights out pitching staff anchored by Cy Young Award winner Orel Hershiser, the Dodgers outplayed their heavily favored interstate rivals, the Athletics, taking the Series in 5 games. Kirk Gibson provided fans with one of the most memorable moments of the modern era when, after being injured in the NLCS, he limped to the plate in Game 1 as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the 9th inning. With his team down by one run, Gibson hit a walk off two run home run that has been voted the "Greatest Moment in Los Angeles Sports History" and was a finalist in Major League Baseball's contest to determine the Greatest Play of All-Time.

The trophy was presented to Mr. Skinner, who was employed by the Dodgers in 1988 as a Diamond Vision camera operator. The trophy is in nice, near mint condition.
