The 1987 USC Trojans football team, coached by Larry Smith, finished with an 8-4 overall record and ranked No. 18 in the country. They earned a Rose Bowl bid by beating Pac-10 and cross-town rival UCLA, 17-13, on Nov. 21, 1987. In the 1988 Rose Bowl, held on New Year’s Day, the Trojans dropped a tough, 20-17, decision to Michigan State. This lot includes a 1988 USC 25th Rose Bowl team-signed commemorative football. Top signatures on the football, the majority of which were signed with a black Sharpie, include starting quarterback Rodney Peete, defensive back Mark Carrier and fullback Leroy Holt. A total of 59 signatures can be found on the football strong and all legible.
