Presented here is an outstanding 1988 game-worn and autographed home jersey from Ozzie Smith, one of the most beloved members of the standout St. Louis Cardinals clubs of the 1980's and 1990's. "The Wizard" was known for his defensive brilliance and set major league records for career assists (8,375) and double plays (1,590) by a shortstop (the latter since broken by Omar Vizquel), as well as the National League record with 2,511 career games at the position. Smith won the NL Gold Glove Award for play at shortstop for 13 consecutive seasons (1980–1992). A 15-time All-Star, he accumulated 2,460 hits and 580 stolen bases during his career, and won the NL Silver Slugger Award as the best-hitting shortstop in 1987. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 2002.

Ozzie’s pullover knit jersey features the Rawlings-tag (size 40) inside the front tail along with a "Set 1 1988" flag tag attached alongside and an adjacent embroidered “T”. The classic chenille birds on bat logo on chest features the "Cardinals" team name in script, with Ozzie’s number "1" underneath in red on blue tackle twill. “O. Smith" and number “1” appear on verso in red on blue tackle twill. Ozzie has signed the front in blue sharpie with “’88” notation. All original and showing moderate usage wear, it's simply a superb artifact from a legendary member of the St. Louis Cardinals fraternity.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
