The greatest right-handed slugger in Phillies history and one of the greatest in MLB history to man the hot corner, Mike Schmidt hit over 548 career home runs and won 10 Gold Gloves to earn a place in Cooperstown. This Schmitty game-used bat has been definitively photo-matched to 1988, the second-to-last season of his storied career. He was batting .249 with 12 homers and 62 RBI before a rotator cuff injury closed the book two months early.
This 1988 Adirondack Big Stick shows outstanding game use. Judged by the amount of pounding, it appears to be one of his favorite pieces of lumber that season There are many ball marks on the barrel along with ink transfers from one of Mike’s mighty cuts. The handle shows a light application of pine tar, and Schmidt’s number “20” has been handwritten on the knob in black marker. The icing on the cake to this museum-quality bat is Mike Schmidt’s signature on the barrel personalized with “Best Wishers” from the Hall of Famer.
The bat has been graded a perfect GU 10 by John Taube of PSA/DNA and comes with an LOA from JSA for the signature. Full photo-matched paperwork from Sports Investors Authentication included.
