Baseball great Charlie Gehringer was a Hall of Fame second baseman for the Detroit Tigers for his entire 19-year MLB career (1942 to ’60). Nicknamed “The Mechanical Man,” he was a player whose remarkable consistency was equaled only by his self-effacing demeanor. He was so consistent he even played in every inning of the first six All-Star games as the starting second sacker for the American League squad and hit .500 in 20 at-bats.

This lot features a framed piece of original artwork (1/1) by artist Christopher Paluso that showcases Gehringer in all phases of the game and even includes a black-and-white portrait of the ballplayer in a suit and tie. In fact, this piece of art was used to produce a run of 800 Gehringer lithographs. Beautifully framed and double matted, the overall shadowbox frame measures 25” wide by 30” high by two inches deep. Gehringer signed the original across the middle in silver pen. Paluso’s signature appears in a light orange pen near the bottom left corner.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
