Louisville Slugger model C263 with a 1983-1987 labeling period. We can pinpoint this model to 1987 as he did not order this model in any other year. The year is significant because Gwynn would go on to win the NL batting Title as well as the Silver Slugger Award. The Tony Gwynn Professional Bat shows evidence of heavy use with a crack from the handle to the center brand and is 32.5 inches long. Some slight checking (grain separation) from repeated ball contact is visible on the front barrel. The barrel is covered with ball marks and ball stitch impressions. Ball marks include black ink transfers. Also visible on the bat are red and green bat rack streaks. The lower handle has been taped approximately 1.75 inches in a spiral pattern to enhance the grip and there is a heavy coat of pine tar on the upper handle. Gwynn's #19 is on the knob in blue marker.
