Charles White was one of the greatest running backs in USC Trojans history and won college football’s coveted Heisman Trophy in 1979. White continued his hard-rushing days in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns for five seasons before being reunited in 1985 with his college coach, John Robinson, who was now coaching the Los Angeles Rams. White would play for the Rams for three seasons, 1985–1987. In 1987, he enjoyed his finest year as a pro, rushing for a league-leading 1,387 yards and 11 touchdowns, which earned him a Pro Bowl selection and the NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award.

This lot includes White’s multi-signed 1987 Los Angeles Rams game-worn uniform including his yellow Russell Athletic (size 30) spandex and nylon pants upon which he has inscribed in black marker “Charles White 79 Heisman U.S.C.” as well as his size 46 Russell Athletic 100% nylon Rams No. 33 jersey upon which he has also written in black marker on top of the first “3” on the back “Charles White 79 Heisman U.S.C.” Note: The pants appear to have remnants of dried candle wax across the right front leg area. In addition, this lot includes White’s game-worn Rams Riddell helmet (size 7 3/8) from the ’87 season. The helmet reflects plenty of game use with paint transfers and scrapes and includes White’s uniform number and name (“33 WHITE”) in blue DYMO embossing tape on the inside just above the left ear hole. He has also inscribed the helmets across the top with the following: “Charles White 79 Heisman U.S.C. Forever.” Finally, this lot concludes with a pair of White’s game-used Adidas white with blue stripes cleats. Well-worn and pretty banged up, the cleats hold White’s collective signature as he has signed in black marker “Charles” across the toes of the left cleat and “White 79 Heisman” across the toes of the right cleat. A great package of football memorabilia from one of the great rushers in both the college and pro game.

Includes Letter of Authenticity from Charles White and Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
