In the 1970s, Bill Walton won a pair of national titles at UCLA (1972 and ’73) before turning pro and winning his first NBA championship with the Portland Trail Blazers in 1977. But it would be with the Boston Celtics where the 6’ 11” center would decide to hang up his uniform but only after helping the C’s win their 16th NBA title in 1986. This lot includes Walton’s game-issued Celtics road jersey from the 1987-88 NBA season, although Walton's final competitive season was from the year before. The left tail includes the Sand Knit exclusivity label (“Designed and Tailored exclusively for the Boston Celtics”) and below that the Sand Knit with size tag 46. Additional sewn-on tags include “87” and “2” LB.” Number “5” and “WALTON” name on back are made of white tackle twill as are the number and “CELTICS” name across the front. The official NBA logo patch is sewn onto left shoulder area.
