After winning an Olympic gold medal alongside his college teammate Michael Jordan at the 1984 Los Angeles Games, Sam Perkins was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks with the 4th overall pick. Known as "Big Smooth" and "Sleepy Sam", the 6' 9" Perkins wore this jersey in 1987-88 when he averaged 14.2 ppg and helped the Mavs make it to the Western Conference Finals.

The green mesh road jersey has “DALLAS” above Perkins’ number “44” in blue, green and white tackle twill. A size “48” Sand-Knit label is sewn in the lower left front tail above which is a Sand-Knit/Dallas Mavericks label. Two strip tags are sewn adjacent with “87” and “6”LB” in black chain stitching. Blue and white ribbing trims the arm and neck openings and a white blank strip tag is sewn inside the collar. The back has “PERKINS” in individual white tackle twill letters above his “44” in green, white and blue tackle twill. The jersey shows medium wear with much of the wear along the front bottom edge, especially on the Sand-Knit labels. The tackle twill graphics exhibit some puckering and loose threads with toning on the white.
