New York Yankees legend Mickey Mantle launched a total of 536 home runs during his prolific career in pinstripes and three times was voted the American League’s Most Valuable Player (1956, ’57 and ’62). He retired in 1968 with a career batting average of .298 after 18 seasons. This lot features a beautiful Christopher Paluso original (1/1) showcasing “The Mick” in all his glory. Known for carrying a thunderous bat, there are five images of Mantle showing the preeminent switch hitter doing what he did best. In fact, this particular piece of art was used to produce a run of 250 Mantle lithographs. Framed and double matted, the overall piece measures 26” wide by 31” high and is signed by Mantle in a thin gold paint pen near the bottom of the painting. Paluso’s signature in black appears in the bottom right corner. Mantle’s signature, though faint, is legible and rates 8/10 in our book. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
