This is an important artifact from one of the great hitters of his era, a fine fielder and a solid performer for five different teams in a 22-year career that should be defined and remembered for vastly more than one historic error in the 1986 World Series. Buckner, a player who attained the statistical curiosity of playing in four different decades (just under two dozen have managed that post-1900), might even have challenged the 3,000-hit plateau, ending with 2,715 and a substantial 1,208 RBI to go with a .289 lifetime average. And he was indeed a fine fielder, that particular moment in October 1986 notwithstanding. This standout jersey hails from that 1985 season, Buckner's finest as a Red Sox and indeed one of the best years of his storied career, as he topped 200 hits for the second time and reached career highs in doubles (46) and Runs Batted In (110). On the left front tail is the “Wilson” manufacturer’s size “40” tag. Below is a year tag with “85” embroidered in navy chain stitch. Across the front is “RED SOX” and on the back is the player No. “6”, both in red on navy tackle twill. The jersey is properly tagged and shows evidence of significant game use. There is considerable wear and fraying evident of the red embroidered piping on the front and collar.

Comes with an LOA from Grey Flannel.
