Michael Cage is San Diego State’s all-time leader in rebounds and was the WAC Player of the year two consecutive seasons. He was nicknamed “Windexman” for “cleaning the glass” with his numerous rebounds. Cage wore this Aztecs jersey during the 1984 season, the second in which he won the Player of the Year Award and was a second team All-American. Cage went on to play 15 NBA seasons and led the league in rebounds in 1988.
Cage’s red jersey has “SAN DIEGO STATE” and Cage’s number “44” on the front in black and white tackle twill. The neck and arm openings are trimmed with black and white ribbing and red, white and black stripes run down each side. A Spanjian size 46 label is sewn in the lower left front tail. The back has Cage’s “44” in black and white tackle twill. The jersey shows heavy use with light staining and heavy toning on the white tackle twill letters and numbers. A great college gamer from 1983 and 1984s WAC Player of the Year.
This piece includes a signed letter of provenance from the San Diego Hall of Champions.
