Torch carried sometime during the relay to bring the Olympic flame to the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Torch measures 23 inches in length with the top about 5 inches in diameter. The top features the Olympic motto: Citius, Altius, Fortius (Latin for "Faster, Higher, Stronger")around the edge along with the five Olympic rings with a detailed engraving of the Los Angeles Coliseum encircling below. A tan leather wrap covers the handle down to a 2" brass fitting at the end containing the LA Olympic logo. A second brass fitting about three quarters of the way up the handle has an engraving that reads "Games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad Los Angeles 1984. The torch shows evidence of having been lit and is in beautiful condition.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from collector Robert Zweigle.

The Robert Zweigle collection represents 40 years of assembling sports memorabilia items from college and professional football, professional golf and NCAA basketball. Bob Zweigle was a major supplier of promotional products to the NFL who personally attended 38 Super Bowls, working closely with NFL personnel and establishing unique connections that helped grow his collection. He designed/produced Super Bowl press pins from XXV through XXXIX (the final year the NFL produced its own pins). He also designed/produced the Player Participation Trophy and Player of the Game Trophy for the Pro Bowl, as well as the Arena Bowl Championship Trophy. He made it a personal quest to obtain in-person autographs on important memorabilia items at many sporting events wherein he had rare and unusual access.
