This lot features a spectacular road powder blue Ozzie Smith 1983 St. Louis Cardinals jersey exhibiting light to moderate game use. The jersey has "CARDINALS" and Ozzie's #1 sewn on the front of the jersey in red and black tackle twill as well as "O. SMITH" and "1" on the back. The Rawlings size 40 swatch and "Set 1 1983" flap tag sewn into the bottom left inside tail.
Nicknamed "The Wizard" for his defensive brilliance, winning the NL Gold Glove Award for play at shortstop for 13 consecutive seasons (1980–1992). A 15-time All-Star, he accumulated 2,460 hits and 580 stolen bases during his career, and won the NL Silver Slugger Award as the best-hitting shortstop in 1987. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 2002.
