Classic original Type I photo of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar shooting his patented sky hook during the 1983 NBA Finals. The Lakers were swept by the Philadelphia 76ers who avenged Finals losses to L.A. in both 1980 and ’82. Kareem did his part for the Lakers, averaging 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.3 blocks during the series. The younger, springier Moses Malone went for 25.8 ppg and 18 rpg in the four games to earn Finals MVP honors.
The nearly flawless black and white shot has a thicker left side border that is slightly soiled. Everything else about this image is utterly perfect. It hails from The Sporting News archives as indicated by the sticker on the reverse.
