Michael Jordan’s final season of college basketball at the University of North Carolina was the 1983-84 campaign. The top-ranked Tar Heels finished the regular season a perfect 14-0 in the ACC and were seeded No. 1 in the NCAA Tournament’s East Regionals. However, their season ended in disappointment with a 72-68 loss to No. 4 seeded Indiana in the semi-finals of the East Regionals. Jordan, a junior, was then selected third overall in that June’s NBA Draft. This lot includes a two-color (Carolina blue and white) official Spalding basketball that’s been signed in black Sharpie by 15 members of the team including Jordan and Head Coach Dean Smith. Other notable signatures include Sam Perkins, Kenny Smith, Brad Daugherty, Matt Doherty and Joe Wolf. Coach Smith often said that the 1983-84 Tar Heels' team was one of the few he coached that he felt was the best team in the country. But the NCAA Tourney spelled a different outcome.
