He went on to play an astounding 2,632. Over his 21 year career, all with the Baltimore Orioles, he won 8 Silver Slugger Awards, was named the 1982 Rookie of the Year Award, and selected the 1983 and 1991 American League Most Valuable Player Award. After his first full season, he was an All Star 19 years in a row until he retired. He was selected for the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.
