ADDENDUM: This uniform dates to the 1982-83 season.

Swen Nater burst into the ABA in 1974, taking the Rookie of the Year honors and making the All-Star team. Later is the only player in the history of the game to lead both the ABA and the NBA in rebounds, which he did in 1975 and 1980. The center wore this San Diego Clippers uniform set during the 1982-1983 season.

The home jersey has “Clippers” across the front with Nater’s number “31” below in blue and orange appliqué. The neck and arm openings are trimmed with blue and orange ribbing. The collar has a Spanjian size 46 label with an “XL” and cleaning instructions hang tag attached. The back has “NATER” above his number “31” in blue and orange appliqué. The jersey shows toning overall and the hem on the bottom front has come loose.

The matching white mesh shorts have nautical signal flags down each side that spell “C-L-I-P-P-E-R-S” and a Spanjian size 36 label with Nater’s number “31” written in faded marker. A cleaning instruction hang tag is affixed to the label. The shorts retain the drawstring and like the jersey shows good use and toning throughout. Bill Walton era example attached.

Includes a letter of provenance from the San Diego Hall of Champions.
