The Phillies and Royals had both won their respective division titles from 1976 to 1978, but both also failed to advance to the World Series in any of those three seasons, and both then missed out on postseason play in 1979. In 1980, though, both Philadelphia and Kansas City reached the World Series. For the Royals, it was the first time in their 12-season history, and for the Phillies it was their first time since 1950. Seventy-seven years after the inaugural Fall Classic, Philadelphia remained as the only original team without at least one World Championship title. That distinction was erased after the Phillies defeated the Royals in six games to win their first World Series.

Offered here is a baseball used in 1980 World Series play. The ball, featuring exclusive 1980 World Series manufacturer’s labeling, was obtained on site by our consignor who was a television cameraman . He obtained the signature of Phillies star Pete Rose in black marker below the 1980 WS side panel logo. The ball shows appropriate soiling and usage wear. Includes a LOA from our consignor.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
