Baseball Hall of Famer Lou Brock stole 938 bases during his prolific, 19-year career, an MLB record that stood until May 1, 1991, when current all time stolen base leader Rickey Henderson broke it. Brock, a rangy outfielder with power, collected 3,023 hits including 149 round-trippers, the majority of which came during his 16 seasons as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals.

This lot features Brock’s 1979 Cardinals game worn home uniform. Marking his final season in the big leagues, the ’79 campaign saw Brock play in 120 games and record yet another stellar season at the plate: 123 hits, .304 batting average and 21 more stolen bases. The offered blue road pullover, V-neck polyester jersey includes proper Rawlings manufacturer’s tagging [size 40] on the inside right front tail with an adjacent flag tag reading “SET 1 1979” to indicate set number and season. It reads “Cardinals” across the front in embroidered red outlined in navy blue and boasts the team’s trademark red, yellow and blue bat-and-birds logo attractively embroidered on the front with Brock’s uniform number “20” in red-on-navy blue tackle twill on both short sleeves. The back has “BROCK” and “1” again in red-on-navy blue tackle twill.

The jersey, which Brock has signed across the back in black marker, exhibits light to medium wear and elastic red, white and blue trim outlines the collar and sleeves.

The accompanying blue pants with red, white and blue trim, show moderate wear and include the proper Rawlings manufacturer’s tag on the inside right rear pocket [size 32] with an accompanying white sewn-in tag sporting red saddle stitch that reads “Brock 32 23 79 1” that indicates the player, waist size, inseam, season and set number. The zippered pants include both buttons on the two rear pockets and reflect staining on the right rear leg. A great ensemble of game worn baseball memorabilia from one of the greatest players in the game’s history.
