Impressive 1979-80 Dave Cowens game worn Boston Celtics road jersey. The 1979-80 NBA season would be a full turnaround for the Boston Celtics by acquiring rookie Larry Bird and improving from a 29-win season to winning the Atlantic division with 61 regular season wins. Cowens averaged 14.2 PPG, 8.1 RPG, and 3.1 APG during his last season with the Celtics which would also be his final All-Star season. The jersey remains in excellent condition showing certain signs of game use. Some puckering exists on the tackle twill lettering. The size 46 Sand-Knit jock tag is present on the lower left-hand side of the jersey. The left shoulder shows some blemishes which appears to be blood staining. The Boston Celtics honored Cowens tenure with the team by retiring his number during the 1981 season. This may very well be one of the last Celtics jerseys Cowens ever wore during an NBA game. MEARS Authentication has given this jersey a highest-possible A10 grade. Cowens was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1991. One of the Celtics primary star centers alongside Bill Russell and Robert Parish.
