ADDENDUM: THE JERSEY IS A TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS JERSEY WORN BY MIKE RAE DURING THE 1978 SEASON. THIS LOT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE TWO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SUN ITEMS FEATURED IN OUR CATALOG.
This lot includes former USC quarterback Mike Rae’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers game-worn and autographed home jersey from the 1978 season. Some called it Creamsicle, others may go with orange sherbert, but one thing is for sure - the Buccaneers' uniforms in the late 1970's and early 80's were impossible to ignore. Mike Rae started 5 games for the Bucs in '78. In his final year of college, the Trojans won the 1972 National Championship after a perfect 12-0 season with Rae at the helm. His NFL debut came in 1976 with the Oakland Raiders before moving on to the Bucs and Redskins and a brief stint in the USFL.
The bright orange mesh jersey has Rae’s No. "15" on the front, back and sleeves in white with red outline. "RAE" appears in the same color scheme on the back nameplate. Medalist Sand-Knit size 44 tagging appears at the shirttail. Rae has signed the jersey twice in black marker on the front and back '5' with the year "1978" inscribed. The signature is legible in both areas although it has faded considerably over time, especially on the back. The jersey shows light wear and comes essentially as-issued and problem-free.
Includes Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
