The 1977 Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team was loaded with talent and leadership on both sides of the football. A fellow named Montana...Joe is his first name, would lead a solid offense and Outland Trophy winner Ross Browner anchored a defense that also featured All-American LB Bob Golic. The Irish would go on to win their 10th National Championship and first under coach Dan Devine after a thorough beat down of then #1 Texas in the Cotton Bowl.

Notre Dame decided to make a fine quality 10k gold ring produced by jeweler Balfour. Presented here is one of those rings in size 8 given to a gentlemen on the Notre Dame Executive staff at the time named "Best". Certainly a fitting name for the football team that proved to be just that. Mr. Best's name appears on the right shank of the ring with the left side stylishly announcing the 1977 Cotton Bowl, with the final score of 38-10, completed by a classy font stating "Fighin' Irish". The top of the ring has a magnificent deep green stone surrounded on the perimeter boldly proclaiming "NATIONAL CHAMPIONS". Overall, the condition of this ring is VG.
