Offered here is an important and historic 1976 game-worn home uniform donned by Los Angeles Dodgers' Hall of Fame manager Walter Alston during his final year as Dodgers skipper. It was an amazing 23-year run of successive one-year contracts that yielded handsome dividends like seven National League Pennants, four World Series titles and a plaque in Cooperstown for Alston. The jersey is truly spectacular, both in terms of its historical import and imposing presentation, with the famed "Dodgers" scripted across the front in blue tackle twill above Alston's No. 24 in red; Alston's No. 24 is also on the back in blue tackle twill, with his name above in the same fashion affixed directly to the back of the shoulders. The shirt has the appropriate W.A. Goodman & Sons Size 46 tagging on the back of the collar and the oval National League Centennial red, white and blue embroidered patch on the left sleeve. The shirt is in superb condition, showing game use but essentially as-issued and problem free, with remarkably vivid red and blue from the tackle twill elements and minimal fraying of any of the delicate stitching.

The matching pants are a perfect complement, with the W.A. Goodman & Sons Size 38 tagging at the inside front left of the waist and a team strip tag at the back of the waist with Dodger Blue embroidery of "Alston 38/23 Set A '76." Just like the jersey, it's difficult to imagine finding another pair of game-worn and yet remarkably pristine pants from four decades in the past. This uniform originated from the Walter Alston Collection that we featured a few years ago at auction.
