Presented here is the 1976 National League All-Star Game ring given to Los Angeles Dodger shortstop Bill Russell. Russell was named to the team as a reserve. In the mid-summer classic the National League had 7-1 victory over the rival American League. The game was played in Philadelphia on July 13, 1976.
Russell was a vital cog in the iconic long-together Dodgers infield combination that included Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes and Ron Cey. From Russell's personal collection is his ring with a raised baseball atop a dark red stone surrounded by "American National Baseball All-Star", with a "76" below the classic MLB logo on one side with "Russell" atop a Liberty Bell design on the other. The size 10.75 ring weighs an impressive 29.2 grams and has the Balfour LGB QP stamp inside.
A LOA from Mr. Russell, who later in his career managed the Dodgers, is included.
