Featured in this lot is a 1975-76 Gene Short New York Knicks game worn home uniform. Short was selected 9th overall by the New York Knicks in the 1975 NBA draft. He had previously been selected 5th overall in the ABA draft by the San Antonio Spurs in 1974. Red Holzman was his head coach during his very short stay in New York. We believe Red probably acquired this jersey during Short's limited time with the squad. Short played 27 games for the Knickerbockers and ended the remainder of his 34 game NBA career in Seattle with the Supersonics.
The size 44 Sand Knit jersey was manufactured by Gerry Cosby Athletic outfitters & co. The jersey shows some use with evidence of pelting on the blue tackle twill of the NEW YORK and number 20 on the front of the jersey. There is also some light gray staining on the bottom of the jersey. "SHORT" is stitched to the back above his number. The shorts are size 34 Sand Knit and are also manufactured by Gerry Cosby athletic outfitters & Co. This lot is accompanied by an LOA from the family of Red Holzman.
