In 1974, the New York Yankees finished in second place in the American League East Division standings with a record of 89-73, two games behind the Baltimore Orioles. The Yankees, managed by Bill Virdon, were just three seasons away from winning the World Series. This lot includes a “New York Yankees” branded baseball that has been signed by 21 members of the team in various shades of ink. Notable signatures on the ball include Mel Stottlemyre across the sweet spot, along with Thurman Munson, Graig Nettles, Chris Chambliss, Gene Michael, Pat Dobson, Doc Medich and Dick Tidrow. The autographs of Munson and Chambliss have faded quite a bit over time. The autographs are all legible and rate 6-7/10.
Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
Bobby Murcer, Sparky Lyle, Lou Piniella, and Sadakis were all deemed Clubhouse signed.
