Interesting Topps test issue featuring 1953 Topps images with backs written up in the style of the 1933 Goudey series. According to Dan Dischley's article in The Trader Speaks the cards were originally issued in 1972 through the proverbial limited retail stores located somewhere in Brooklyn. 3 of the cards have the player names that do not match the images. Further in the article Dan states that Topps employee and early collecting hobby giant Bill Haber was selling the sets at the New York convention and stating that "only 300 of each card were made".

Complete PSA graded set consists of: #1 Jackie Robinson NM-MT PSA 8, #2 Jackie Robinson EX-MT PSA 6, #3 Carl Furillo (Bill Antonello picture) NM-MT PSA 8, #4 Al Rosen (Jim Fridley picture) NM PSA 7, #5 Hal Newhouser NM-MT PSA 8.5, #6 Clyde Janowicz (Vic Janowicz picture) NM PSA 7, #7 Peanuts Lowrey EX-MT PSA 6, and #8 Johnny Mize EX-MT PSA 6. Consignor originally obtained the set from Bill Haber back in July 1973 from an ad in The Trader Speaks. Needless to say we were disappointed with some of the grades received from PSA. Still a beautiful looking Topps Test set and a great addition to your collection.
