Anthony Davis was a great running back for the USC Trojans in the early ‘70s. Racking up 3,724 yards and 52 touchdowns over his collegiate career at USC, Davis was one of the most prolific backs of his time, able to score in a multitude of ways. His most memorable performance was also one of the most impressive single-game performances ever, scoring six touchdowns (four rushing, two on kick returns) as a sophomore in a game against the Fightin’ Irish of Notre Dame in 1972. He also scored four touchdowns against Notre Dame as a senior during USC's great 55-24 comeback victory on Nov. 30, 1974. This lot includes a 1973 No. 28 Anthony Davis USC Trojans game-ready jersey along with various other pieces of Davis-related memorabilia including a signed copy of the Dec. 9, 1974, issue of Sports Illustrated that shows Davis on the cover after the great comeback victory against the Irish; a Davis-signed ticket stub from the aforementioned game’ and two photos – one black-and-white (8” x 10”) and one in color (12” x 12”) – showing Davis in action during his USC career. Both signatures are in black fine-point marker and would rate a solid 9/10 in our book.

Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
