The San Diego Gulls first brought pro hockey to Southern California in 1966 as part of the Western Hockey League. The team played at the San Diego Sports Arena before disbanding in 1974 when the World Hockey League Mariners moved to town. This jersey was used during the 1972-73 season. The white jersey has “GULLS” arched across the chest in blue and orange tackle twill. An NHL 5th Anniversary patch is sewn on the right chest and the laced neck opening is tripped in orange and blue ribbing. The number “21” is sewn on both shoulders and on the back in orange and blue tackle twill. The collar has a frayed Olympic Sporting Goods label with a size “44” strip tag affixed. The jersey shows a tremendous amount of use with fraying and puckering on the tackle twill graphics and many club house repairs to the fabric. A real “been-there” NHL gamer.

This piece includes a signed letter of provenance from the San Diego Hall of Champions.
