For you basketball and ABA historians, presented here is a 1971-72 season "Working Press" pass for the Virginia Squires, issued to the team's Head Statistician Ollie Donelan. That season was significant as it marked the pro rookie campaign of basketball icon Julius "Dr. J" Erving for the Squires.
In due time the basketball and sports world would discover the greatness and style of "Doctor J", but at this time the young Erving was just finding his wings.
Ollie must have been occasionally distracted from his duties on the stat sheet with Dr. J's high flying artistry, not to mention great play from another future Hall of Famer with the Squires, Charlie Scott!
PSA has authenticated and encapsulated this unique artifact, grading the Pass a VG-EX 4. A pop of 1, none higher!
The original holder of this pass, Oliver Donelan, knew a bit about hoops, as he was a member of a South Carolina high school state championship team, as well as playing briefly at Clemson on the freshman team, and later after transfer to the U.S. Naval Academy, on Navy's Plebe squad.
