Al Smith was also a 4th round draft pick of the American Basketball Association's Denver Rockets in 1971 and would go on to play for the club for three seasons. This jersey comes from his first season, when he served as the backup to point guard Larry Brown, while averaging nine points and three assists per game. Smith became the Rockets' regular point guard during the 1972–73 season after Brown took a job as head coach. He scored a career-best 11-plus points per game in his second season, while averaging 5.5 assists per game. On the left front tail is the “Sand-Knit” manufacturer’s tag with wash instructions and size “42”. Across the front is “DENVER.” Player No. 10 appears on both the front and back. All these numbers and letters are done in lavender on yellow tackle twill. Player name "Smith" appears across the back in lavender tackle twill on a white nameplate. The jersey is properly tagged and shows game use, with small staining elements front and back and minimal fraying of the yellow or lavender stitching on visible puckering on the number 10 front and back.
