With 329 wins, 4,136 strikeouts, 55 shutouts and six seasons of 20 or more wins in a Methuselah-like career of 24 years, Steve Carlton assured himself a place in the lore and legend of baseball commensurate with his status as one of the top pitchers of his generation. And though he played for a half dozen different teams, he truly will largely be remembered first and foremost with the Phillies, where he turned in five of his six 20-win campaigns there, to say nothing of all four of his Cy Young Awards. Close your eyes and picture the lanky lefthander in his prime as he befuddled legions of National League hitters, and this is the cap he'll be wearing in that conjured up vision. A Size 7 1/4 New Era Pro Model tagged beauty, it shows good game wear and perspiration on the head band and yet remains largely as-issued and problem-free. Carlton's No. 32 is penned by hand under the bill of the cap.
